Wind and airspeed calculators
Wind moves the whole air mass an aircraft is flying in, so the direction the nose points is rarely the direction the aircraft travels. These tools resolve that: splitting a reported wind into crosswind and headwind components for a runway, solving the wind triangle in both directions, and converting the airspeed on the dial into the true airspeed used for navigation.
- Runway wind components Split a reported wind into crosswind and headwind or tailwind for a runway.
- Wind triangle Course, true airspeed and wind into heading, drift correction and groundspeed.
- Wind from heading and track Work backwards from what the aircraft actually did to find the wind.
- True airspeed Calibrated airspeed, pressure altitude and temperature into true airspeed.
- Mach number True airspeed and temperature into Mach number and the local speed of sound.
